HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Sending a massive HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY shout out to our beautiful mother's back home :) Helen and Wendy, we miss you incredibly and we love you so so so so much! Sorry we weren't there today, but thank you so much for your understanding and continued support for us! Mum, you are the best :)

Mumma Andrea has been our mum up here, always making sure we are fed and well- tonight we are going to surprise her with this cake!!! (Thanks Mumma Ewin for the cake mix!)

Out here we have to make do with what we have- check out the schweeeeeeeet Milo writing. Now you would think putting milo on a cake would be a piece of cake, but it is tough! I am particularly proud of my 'Y' in 'DAY'- I got the sprinkling skill down pat at the end of the day!

Because we don't live with our mums anymore, we had to be the mums. We did 3 loads of washing today, cleaned the house, washed our sheets, made our bed, swept the floor, washed the dishes- and even fed our kiddies! You have taught us well, Mum!

On a side note, we have a quick word of advice. If you have done no exercise in the last 3 months, DO NOT START BY DOING 60 SIT UPS!! We did it on thursday and our bellies are still aching!

Out here, we only ever wear thongs and so our feet get filthy! We are almost positive that they have been stained red (although, salt water fixes it- fun fact)! We have both have amazing thong tans, which we are very proud of. Anyone that knows Jenny will understand how much of an achievement that is for her to get a tan haha Annnnnnyway, Maddy has the filthiest feet and tonight when Jenny was sweeping her once prickle infested floor (the prickles out here just like to party with you), she was lying on her bed trying to get her with her gross feet! The ultimate weapon!

Talking about yourself in third person is so hard.

Well, Mick has cooked us some yum yum din din and called for Jenny's help only a couple of times- she just came home smelling of smoke, but all is well, another day saved!

Br Rick has returned safe and well- Dumbledore is back at the castle! Wooo!

Once again, Happy Mother's Day- we love you :)

A 'typical' balgo day...

A 'typical' day in the life of a Balgo Share the Missioner is not always so typical. Every day brings with it its own challenges and surprises- which makes it so exciting out here! Of a morning we are responsible for serving breakfast to the kids that want it. Then we head off to class, Mick is in with Primary B (year 2/3) helping Cassie out all day, Mads helps out in Primary C (year 4/5) in the morning then runs sport in the afternoon and Jenny is in with Kindy and Primary A of a morning and Primary C in the afternoon. We each assist the teachers however they need- be it running maths and literacy groups or just sitting with the kids colouring in. I think it is fair to say that we have all improved 10 fold in our colouring in- although just today in class, Jake told Jenny that the ATA's colouring in beat hers! We are all also responsible for making mangarri, lunch, for the kids. We make sandwiches after school and then distribute them during school along with fruit.

 For half of our first term school holidays we ventured out into civilisation and into Broome. Being east-coasters, we were all pretty excited to see the sun set over the ocean, and what better a place to be than Cable Beach!

 On the weekend just passed, Balgo hosted the Kutjunka Cup- an AFL competition between Balgo and other communities around us. Although Mulan came out on top, it was great to be part of such a great community event- even Mick took part, playing for the Balgo Tigers!! Even though we both came out understanding AFL a little more, the most impressive part of it all was that half the guys playing weren't wearing boots- the ground is so gravelly and unforgiving! Tough boys!

 In the first week of the holidays a group of yr 11 volunteer students from La Salle in Perth came up and entertained the kids and helped out around the school (thanks guys!!), and so it was only right that we went for a trip out to Mulan Lake (Lake Gregory). This was lucky for us, we hadn't been out before! Here's Maddy with Charles at the lake.

A similar photo to this is the only thing stuck on our fridge- smack bang in the middle of our freezer door! It's as though we are proud parents to ourselves...

We did intend on posting a lot more but we have had a few technological issues- hopefully we will get our act together though :)

A quick run down on Balgo so far...

We don't really know how to start this blog, we have tried to start it for days and have just got no where- so bear with us! We aren't able to put all the amazing experiences we have already had (in our 2months here) into words, so we thought we would just show you a few photos, they say a picture is worth a thousand words right?!

Just on a quick side note, we are the same person. We finish eachother's sentences, aren't able to do anything by ourselves, and need eachothers approval before doing ANYTHING (even ordering breakfast at a cafe), some days we even walk out of our rooms wearing the same things. It is freakishly brilliant. This is us, Jenny on the left and Maddy on the right- see what we mean about dressing the same? At this point we hadn't even known eachother a week! Meant to be!

Alrighty, here are some of our favourite snaps so far :) we are still trying to figure out this whole blog thing and we can't quite figure how to do it all so over the next few days we will post some more.

 At the end of our first week, a few kids took us for a walk just out of town. Here is Kingston carrying his bag of goodies from the shop and a spinifex plant as a hat- better it being there than on the ground ready to stab our legs!!

 If sunset lasted for hours you would be able to sit here for every minute, it is so beautiful!
